Here is a message from USWR about a test with a 300 psi compressor that had better results than the others:
We indeed have tested compressors, but had superior results with only one model:
the Campbell Hausfeld RP300001AV - 12 volt 300PSI inflator.
It was marked that it was made in China.

We were able to reach 250PSI and 290PSI with two of these units before they failed. We reported on our website the test results: http://www.uswaterrockets.com/business/ ... ory_01.htm
In both cases the plastic gears were the ultimate weak point. Initially, the hose clamps would fail quite easily, perhaps as a safety blowoff, but once that was corrected they ran until the plastic gears melted. One pump ground the gears and the other one had the gears fuse together and bind up until the motor burned out.
We have a video on our website of the burning motor.
In the extended version of this same video the pressure causes the test pressure vessel we were experimenting with to fail. The video shows how far the needle travels when the pressure lets go. You can see that the pressure was 290 by how far the needle goes down.
We will try to locate the video and post it to the forum.
