Horizontal & Vertical Launcher

Post by thampson »

As most of you know we have been concentrating on water rocket cars of late. Although its been a little depressing seeing our vertical water rockets gathering dust in the garage. So this weekend we updated our launch platform to be configurable for both horizontal as well as vertical launches.

Here is the horizontal mode

The 20L container keeps the launcher stable in both modes. It takes about 2 minutes to reconfigure the launcher from one mode to the other. The platform is bolted at the bottom of the splash guard in horizontal mode and support by a screwed in support rod in vertical mode.

There are more pics and writeup on our website for those interested.

To keep my launcher stable in vertical launchings I am going to add a vertical metalic hollow tube below the main base of the launcher.

That tube will be like a spike that will stick in the soil. That way will avoid adding weight to the launcher.

It will be cool for launching at beaches.
