hydrogen launcher

this is where i found the hydrogen launcher. you fill the bottle with the hydrogen and oxigen that you can make from electrifying the water and collecting the bubbles. keep a little water in it. and ignite the gas.

the idea is to quickly compress the bottle without a bike pump.

I don't think using an explosion to provide the pressure to launch a water rocket is any different than any other pyro rocket. It would be fun to experiment with but it's not the same thing as a water rocket.

so you do know that it takes hours to get about 5psi of hydrogen. so this mite take even longer :lol:

I knew it takes a long time but there was a device on mythbusters that could turn water into hydrogen at a fast rate and even the presenters were surprised it was so fast.

I think if you had a small volume to fill it would be faster than an hour to get 5psi too. Still not very useful if the volume is too small.

the rocket is still filled with a bit of water, the hydrogen isn't the fuel it's the compressor, the water in the rocket is still the main fuel.

I think it's a cool idea and would be a lot of fun to play around with but I don't know of any competitions that allow this. Every contest I have seen frowns on chemical reactions powering the rocket and phase changes powering the rocket too. I don't think they even allow melting carbon dioxide ice for compression either. If anything it would be in a different class, like steam rockets or something.
