Can you explain to me how the trigger works in paintball guns? I don't see how it can deliver the at pressure without the whole tank just draining out if you hold the trigger down.

on mechanical guns,
the trigger triggers a chain reaction that activates a release valve (releasing a calculated blast of gas)
on electronic markers, it's essentially a switch that activates the pneumatic solenoid that releases a controlled blast of gas.

Could the solenoid be useful as a deploy system? I just had the idea to use a small air canister like a CO2 cartridge to deploy a parachute if the solenoid could create a blast of pressure from the cartridge.

Re: i use paintball equipment for my air-supply for the laun
quite possible.
the blast of air / gas is enough to drive a 2-3gram paintball 300feet /per second.
although the complexity and weight will make this excellent idea less feasible.
and the pneumatic solenoids we use aint cheap. i think US$100
u could use a simpler one, look for:
http://www.smartpartsparts.com and look for the SP ION (just get the stock board) or maybe look in the local paintball forums and ask if anyone wants to sell their stock boards, as they usually upgrade.
u might find one for anything around US$10-20.
you would need a ION regulator as well as it only works below 200psi..

How much does the solenoid weigh? I think we could get by with a tiny plastic bottle filled with 200PSI of air. That way, we don't need a regulator or anything. All we need would be a solenoid and a way to control it. If the solenoid is heavy, then all bets are off.

oh the solenoid with the board is about 50grams? guesstimated
you'll need a 9v battery as power source

I'm interested. Time to go look up some paintball hobby sites. Thanks for the inspiration!
