Composite pressure vessel

Hi,

We are currently building a water rocket, which we hope to get a new altitude record with (higher than the X-12). The pressure vessel will be made entirely from composite materials. I have read all the rules for the competition, but was still a bit uncertain as to whether the pressure vessel had to be based on PET bottles? Will this rocket allowed in the competition?

Kind regards,
Stuart Swan

Hi Stuart,

No, the rocket pressure vessel does not need to be based on PET bottles if you are competing in the "Class A" competition.

http://www.wra2.org/WRA2_Class_A_Rules.php which you seem to be suggesting when you mention the current record held by the X-12 rocket which was flown by US Water Rockets.

but you will need to register your team for membership in the WRA2. :WRA2:

This can be done using our membership application which can be found here:

Good Luck! PH:

Ooh! Sounds cool!

Please stay around and post about your progress! It would be fascinating to see someone else with the technical skills to attempt a record! I'd love to follow your progress!
