Welcome to the Water Rocket Forum, sponsored by The Water Rocket Achievement World Record Association.
Since our founding in 2003, we've become the largest, most sophisticated and ground breaking group supporting you, the serious water rocket flyer! Whether you are a beginner or an expert, the WRA2 has something for everyone.
A water rocket is a type of model rocket using water as its reaction mass. The pressure vessel (the engine of the rocket) is constructed from thin plastic or other non metallic materials (usually a used plastic soft drink bottle) weighing 1,500 grams or less. The water is forced out by compressed air. It is an example of Newton's third law of motion. Newest WRA2 members:

Agreed, I think he said that after that incident he was reviewing their safety procedures. I am not sure he made light of the accident, but I think it highlights the fact that accidents happen and no matter how careful you are you always need to be vigelant. Look at what happened at Scaled composites and they pride themselves on safety.
I guess that this is one of the reasons that we have rules here because accidents do happen. Too bad this guy wasnt following them. I guess he had to learn the hard way.

As far as pvc and cpvc go for me I stay away from the stuff for any use, one time I was pumping up my rocket and my launcher just blew!!! From then on I used metal parts for all my launchers etc. :|
