A water rocket is a type of model rocket using water as its reaction mass. The pressure vessel (the engine of the rocket) is constructed from thin plastic or other non metallic materials (usually a used plastic soft drink bottle) weighing 1,500 grams or less. The water is forced out by compressed air. It is an example of Newton's third law of motion.

Just getting started

Post by NorthernAir » Sun Jul 31, 2016 2:34 pm

Hi to all the WRA2 members! Just getting started with water rockets and have been playing with a modified air rocket launcher fitted with a 1/2" pvc launch tube. :)

Last week the kids and I assembled our first water rockets from 2l bottles. We've kept launches under 60psi so far, but even still very impressed with the launches!

Looking forward to learning from everyone as we grow...
