multi-bottle rockets

Post by Brian »

this is my multi-bottle rocket i made from 2 halfs from a 2L bottle and a 2.25L bottle (can use a 2L bottle but a 2.25L bottle is better), some vinyl swimming pool patch kit and some strong tape.
put the glue on 1 half and slide both halfs together. put glue around the connection and put a long vinyl patch over the glue then the sticky tape over that.

here's a pictue of everything including the rocket

Have you tried making a sleeve out of a larger diameter bottle and using a heat gun to shrink it down over the joint? A lot of us have had good luck gluing the bottles together and then gluing a sleeve over the whole thing.

PL premium is a glue in a family called "Polyurethane Glue". There shoule be something similar to it everywhere because it is common. Elmers makes several types and there's also a glue called Gorilla Glue that is similar. These come in a liquid that flows like honey where PL is more like a paste, but they are similar chemically.

Hi brian,

It looks nice, but will it be strong enough. how much pressure can it hold?
I am working on a splice to:
http://www.freewebs.com/waterraket/7%20 ... 0raket.JPG

On that picture i havn't glued the last bottle but its on now. And i pressure tested it up to 170 psi.
I atached some balsa wings on it. Now i am waiting on my perfectflyte alt 15 K. And then i am going to launch it! I cant wait

Good luck!

here in italy (and in the europe i think) there is a polyurethane glue called Bisonite by Bison.. bison makes also a lot of other kids of glue and so on..

Bisonite is a two part glue: resin and "hardener" (i don't remember the exact word)
