You are trying to hold the bottles from coming apart by putting string along the outside and not using any glue to seal the joint? That wasn't clear from your previous post. Now it's clear.

Tony's idea of putting bulkheads inside to prevent collapse seems like the most obvious thing to try.

Yes, what I'm seeing is that the bottles will hold air and not collapse inward with no grease added BUT the neck was not stiff enough to bear the load of the string.

Going to have to drop this for now, but will definitely have to revisit the glueless splice again.
