A very interesting point. While it looks like there would be significant damage, it doesnt look like "you could lose a limb" type of explosion like the LEO's like to say.

There was a whole episode of mythbusters on Saturday night about various internet experiments you should and should not try at home. This was part of the episode where they were trying to tell people that dry ice bombs were a bad idea. They didn't even get into the drain cleaner version, which is obviously 10 times worse.

As shown you probably couldn't kill yourself, but a lot of newbies to water rockets think nothing of putting aluminum brackets and nozzles on their water rockets and filling them to extreme pressures. This lack of respect for penetrating shrapnel is exactly the kind of thing that can cause a permanent injury like the loss of fingers or an eye, or even kill someone. Don't take it too lightly.

One of our members posted this video several years ago.

It demonstrates the dangers of exploding rockets, poor launch safety, handling pressurized bottles, and the dangers of scuba tanks.

That's a great compilation. You should keep a link to that on the rules page!

Unfortunately some idiot in LA County already has the overall category wrapped up this year.

However in the Anvil Tossing and Other Dangerous Falling Projectiles category for 2009?, this one was definitely a contender.
