maximum pressure

Post by da-water »

we are from different countries, but it could be useful to know the maximum pressure that a bottle can hold..
there are some "international" bottle as pepsi, fanta and so on..

national bottle will be accepted too..

so, do you think that it could be useful to do this "bottle list" ??

I think this would be a great idea. I would like to see that the bottles are grouped according to size too. Hey, what if we also list the height, width, and weight?

I was going to suggest the same thing. Great minds think alike!

What if you put a ruler in the photo so then it can be seen in scale with the bottle?

ok.. i've just known that the bottle i usually use holds up to 14bar (203psi!!)without tape!!

i think that was a lucky event... anyway, i will ask my friend that did the burst test..

203 PSI!?!!? Holy crap!

Is it a large or small bottle? I know the small ones tend to hold more pressure but never more than about 150! Wow!

it's a 1,5 l bottle.. it is very slim so it is perfect for mono-bottle rockets because they are very slim..

but if you do multi-bottles rockets, this will not be THE PERFECT bottle...

a 4bottles rockets is 1,40metres and it is "only" 6litres.. those ones used by air command water rocket are 2 litres bottles and in the same lenght they have a 8 litres rocket!! (my bottle's diameter is 9cm when it's pressurized, air command's ones more than 11cm!! )

if you want,i would post full details and a photo so i'll start the "database" :D

We can collect the data here in this topic like we did for the "personal best altitude" We can then make a database or webpage when we collect enough.

this is the Uliveto bottle:

Capacity: 1,5 litres;
Lenght: 34 cm;
Diameter: 8,5 cm not pressurized;
Weight: 36 grams;
Pressure: 232 Psi ( 16 Bar )
Attachments
PAY ATTENTION!!!! i didn't do the burst test on my own, my friend did it.. i believe in what he told me but i'm not sure the bottle always arrives to 232 Psi... it could be a lucky event..

Wow.... that's a lot of pressure! I wonder if the narrow band in the middle of the body is responsible for making it stronger? This is a very interesting topic! I may have to try to make a strong bottle by shrinking a band in the middle.

mind you, i'm not sure the uliveto to hold so much pressure.. i'm SURE it holds up to 175psi (12bar)... peraphs it goes even to 200psi(14bar) but i think it was a lucky event the 232psi(16bar)..

the central part (the narrow band )disappears at 100psi(7bar).. it expands very much..
do you think i should reinforce that part or i should let it expand??

What would happen if you wrapped some strong wire or rope around the central part? Will it stop the expanding?
