Are you looking for tommytimers?

Post by dwrrule »

I found a good place that sells them in bulk. The crawling finger timers are twice the size an a lot stronger. I use them all the time.

Not everyone has the ability to build a computer. I think we should be open to all types of deploys. The huge advantage of a mechanical timer is the amount of force you can store in a spring is way more than you can get from a motor or servo for the same weight.

I don't have a problem building a "flight computer"
If your rocket crashes the timer holds up better then a flight computer, an i can fly more than one rocket in the same day with out having to build multi "flight computers"

Do you have any figures for your success rates? I bet that more mechanical timer flights succeed then computer flights! A lot more can go wrong with electronics.

Would it be possible for you to describe how your 2-stage mechanism works? The video on your site of the flight shows a great separation and the system looks so simple in the photos that I can't imagine how it operates. I'm all for simple and reliable designs, so if you can give some pointers or other 2-stage advice I would be most grateful.
