Gardena Nozzle Leaking
My attempt at a Gardena Nozzle has failed.
I used a Dettol bottle like this: http://d1pxffhcwa1qe0.cloudfront.net/re ... panded.jpg
It leaks between the bottle and the cap, as in, the cap doesn't seal around the bottle thread properly.
Is this normal? Are there any other caps that will definitely fit a bottle in Australia?

Re: Gardena Nozzle Leaking
This is the exact reason I stopped using Gardena's.
Have you tried this method: http://www.aircommandrockets.com/constr ... htm#Nozzle

You should try to add epoxy glue to the area where the gardena is connected. It will make a good seal.sletts02 wrote:My attempt at a Gardena Nozzle has failed.

Re: Gardena Nozzle Leaking
Hello there,
A standard water hose pipe washer you can buy in your local hardware store should solve the leaking issue. Yes it will normally leak unless you use a sealing method unless you can use the internal flang of the bottle lid but from the kind you are using that will not be possible.
Hope that helps,
Jamie B

Hi
I always try to get a bottle that already has a washer and then I will use it at the rocket.
A very smooth sanding of the nozzle side that will have this sealing washer also helps.

My problem was that the gardena/top of the nozzle was fine. It was the connection between the bottle and the nozzle (where the red arrow is).ptx wrote:Hi

So it is leaking out the threads? Have you tried a layer or two of pipe tape?

Out of the threads, yes.DogLover wrote:So it is leaking out the threads? Have you tried a layer or two of pipe tape?
I tried pipe tape and even an o-ring. I think the detol lid is flexing at the last thread or two under pressure - maybe.
I'll revisit this design later on - I'm having success with epoxying the lid direct to the inside of the gardena nozzle.

You can sand the base of the gardena smooth where you cut it off the hose connector, and use the rubber gasket from the hose connector female gardena connection to go between the cut gardena and the bottle top. This usually seals nicely.
