A water rocket is a type of model rocket using water as its reaction mass. The pressure vessel (the engine of the rocket) is constructed from thin plastic or other non metallic materials (usually a used plastic soft drink bottle) weighing 1,500 grams or less. The water is forced out by compressed air. It is an example of Newton's third law of motion.

Didn't cut anything off, just started rotating it on my bench grinder until the neck was melted down and shaped.DogLover wrote:How did you get that nice smooth top??
The added plasticweld epoxy putty to fill in the gaps and finished with 2 part gorilla epoxy.
GrindMelting down the neck of the bottle on the grinder gives the epoxy a good support structure

Wow, that turned out fantastic! You did a great job! That looks awesome! Do you have a photo of the nose on a rocket? That probably looks amazing!bugwubber wrote:Coming along pretty good. This is after the first coat. Still need to polish and put on a Clearcoat.

Re: Nose cone bottles
Hi.
I know this is an old thread, but i have only just discovered these amazing things.
Made my first one a few weeks ago and took it camping with a load of friends and family.
Didn't know what to expect. Neither did anyone else.
It was brilliant. Now 3 others are getting into making them and making launchers.
Anyway. I have a question.
From the first picture it looks like you made up the 'Gorilla' mix and 'dripped' it on the tip
of the cone so it ran down!? Is that right? Or did you paint it on?
This is the best way to make a nosecone that i have found. I saw vid on Youtube of some guy
grinding a bottle and i did that, mine didn't turn out as well as his, but mine would be fine if
i adopted your method. It makes so much sense. i already ordered a stick of the putty.
Thanks.
