Your projects for 2015

Post by RaketfuedRockets »

This topic was created to start a conversation about YOUR future plans.
Do you plan something special or new rockets?

We, Team Raketfued, are planning some quite interesting projects in 2015.

1) Reinforced rockets
We want to reinforce the Swallow 1 (7 L) and the SkyHopser 2 (4.3 L) with fiberglass, in order to break the German water rocket record (170m).
We will use this Altimeter, it's really popular in Germany.
Altimax Simply: http://www.rocketronics.de/produkt/altimax-simply/
The Altimax Simply is unable to document the entire flight on a time vs. altitude graph because it hasn't a digital output.
But it uses the same measure technique than the common altimeters here in the forum (air pressure based).
That's why we're not sure to what extent the measurement is accepted by the WRA2.

2)New rockets
We want to rebuild the Swallow 1B which will be able to eject a little probe, equipped with a camera and later some other technical instruments.
Our first two stage water rocket is planned too.
(Check out the attached drawing)

3)New video projects
We will make plenty of new videos in 2015.
For example a remake of our simple water rocket tutorial and some great cooperations with other water rocketeers.
The next video will be the last one which is released in 2014, and it will be a new YouTube channel trailer.

Hopefully we'll find enough time to translate this plans into action soon.
What are your future plans for 2015?

We wish you a merry christmas and a happy new year.
Your Raketfued-Team

Good luck with the German record! You've got the rockets to take that easily!

Thank you USWR. :)
We'll increase the air pressure to 16 bar / 230 psi, if the reinforcement works.
Cheers

My main goal will be to find a launch site of suitable size.

If I accomplish that, I will need to iron out any wrinkles in my design.

They I can work on a steerable parachute system.

We looked at some plans a while ago for a airfoil type of chute you could steer with two lines pulling on each side. It was on a pyro rocket website from a while back. You might want to look into that design, because it did seem to work for the author. It was called Parafoil or something similar.

Hello All,

This is a post good post Raketfued! We at JSB Rocketry would simply like to try and pass the 150 metre mark. That is by either using reinforced fibreglass pressure chambers or making the rocket much lighter and more efficient. We would also like to try and put the GoPro in a special faring and get some onboard footage with it! We are also going to make some more Rocket Recovery Timers and get them working reliably and start working on a new design!

I am also hoping to get some PL Premium as well to make some more reliable splices!!!!

As always I am looking forward to your projects Raketfeud, I am sure with your organisation and precision you will get them done to a fine standard!

As for the steerable chute design, Air Command released a video on using a large rudder on the rocket and then using a RC unit to steer the rocket when under chute. Looks like it has potential...

Have nice Christmas one and all,

oooooooo. :) Plans

Yes I intend the get my single bottle rockets higher and higher. At 100psi my farthest 346' though that wasn't a standard 2 liter bottle.

Thank you Jamie! Good luck with passing the 150 metre mark, I'm sure it's not a big issue for you.
A good way to make the rocket lighter is to remove all unnecessary components.
You could use our Phoenix 5 parachute mechanism design or the radial parachute system from USWR, both are very light and reliable.
The Phoenix 5 has some free space for an Altimeter, your Rocket Recovery Timer or an onboard camera too.
Cheers

I used to build them bigger, and got a pretty good altitude (can't remember now-would have to look in my log) but I've been busy with lasers and tesla coils recently.

SkyHopser 2R

Post by RaketfuedRockets »

We will start the construction of our new rocket "SkyHopser 2R" soon.
It is an improved version of the SkyHopser 2:
-Reinforced pressure vessel
-Altimeter
-New onboard camera with wide angle lens
-Improved fin attachment
