Re: couplers
Are you trying to make a tornado coupler? That can be done without pvc to increase your inside diameter. Melt the tops of two bottle caps, stick them together, Use a hot iron to melt a hole through the caps if you can. Otherwise drill a hole through them. Wrap the caps in a couple layers of duct tape.

Re: couplers
Or you could epoxy two caps together in a FTC sleeve, much like the first splice technique of ACR. I've been using it without issues, but when you do it improperly, then it'll explode. I've tested it to 110 psi, and it held.

Re: couplers
I had trouble with gluing caps together in a sleeve. A few separated at pressure. (PS: we can't get FTC tube where i live).
So i started making these couplers instead. details at http://waterrocketsbrisbane.blogspot.com.au/
Had no issues at all ....yet.

How heavy is it? Mine weighs around 25-30 grams.

Re: couplers
Hmm... my estimates are too great. Probably 10-20 grams :3. How thick is the PVC sleeve?

Re: couplers
Oh, and do you think it could be used on Type C caps?

Re: couplers
Sorry not sure what type C caps are? I think they might be the shallower ones. In which case, I have no experience of them. I have stockpiled a lot of the older Deeper flange softdrink caps.Alien Space Agency wrote:Oh, and do you think it could be used on Type C caps?
I use Holmans 20mm PVC tube. It gets a bit thinner as i sand it down after epoxying. PS: i'm in OZ so US products are scarce.
Images of what i used are on previous link. I mainly use the caps for the inbuilt seal.
hope that helps. PLEASE NOTE: i usually fly at pressures not exceeding 110psi.

1. Yes, Type C caps are the one piece shallow caps.kitestring wrote:Sorry not sure what type C caps are? I think they might be the shallower ones. In which case, I have no experience of them. 2. I live in PH and Western products are very scarce.
3. I fly at 70-100 psi.
4. Is Holman's a brand? And 20mm doesn't even fit a cap inside. You might be referring to 25mm.

Re: couplers
Is it the pipe itself? Or the slip coupling?

Yes, just the pipe itself. Caps fit into very tightly.Alien Space Agency wrote:Is it the pipe itself? Or the slip coupling?
