Re: waterrocket magazine
I think it would be better to use that effort in organizing better the forum.
When someone new comes here and see a lot of topics he just looses himself.
Maybe it would be better to make inside the forum other divisions like:
- Launcher:
- How to build a launcher
- photos and videos
- trouble section
- hoses
- release mechanisms
- Glues section: on-line shops / where to buy
- Fins:
- How to build it
- Fins material
- Templates
- Gluing
- trouble section
- Rocket
- reinforcement
- stability
- gluing
- staging
- trouble section
- Parachutes
- trouble section
- how to make it
- photos and videos
- discussion
This is important because there is a lot of photos from launchers but little "how-to" sections. And that is what a newbie tries to search in the beginning. And that is mixed with everything...
For example a topic about fins is one thing, but one about "how to make fins" is another thing. And that demands some separation.

We have tried something similar back in 2007. The problem we faced with such detailed categories was getting people to post to the correct one. Everyone seems to think that their post will get noticed/answered faster if they post it to the first topic listed on the index page. Everything from "how to's" to questions about the competition rules gets posted to the "general rocket discussion" forum (notice how the number of posts decline as you scroll down the page). We then consolidated it to the current groupings to reduce the amount of "scrolling" needed to view the index. We also do have an excellent search function. I'm open to suggestions for more efficient ways to layout the topics and for getting people to post to the correct topic.

Re: waterrocket magazine
first about the magazine...what to put in it?? there arent than many people into wrocketeering....so il would probably last....what...a month or two? unless people start posting tones of descoveries they made and more competitions takes place...not much to talk about.
now for the forum organizing idea:
personaly, i made my way through it easily and i know most of the posts that are here, and iv joined not to long ago( and iv got a life ) and secondly, as lisa mentioned above, the bottom posts dont get much attention...i know this because my rocket videos get much more coments in general water rocket discutions than in videos and photos, where its actualy supposed to do...

Actually an WRA2 newsletter may be in the near future.zetez wrote:No. But - it is great idea! Administrators of this forum: maybe it's time to create first Water Rocket Magazine?
What would people like to see in the newsletter.
Do we email it to people? Do we publish it online?
What about content? Would people be winning to write articles to be published in it?
Suggestions welcome

Re: waterrocket magazine
It should be published on-line, I remember some persons in my country that tried to make a paper magazine about marriages suites and they almost went bankrupt.
It would be ok for a e-mail notification for who wanted that.
Regards of the quantity of the content it should be made each 3 or 6 months.
It should have:
1 - a theorical section for exposition of theorical systems, like the
variable nozzle (it should have schemes)
2 - Pratical section, with photos and data about the rockets
carachteristics, like in thise car magazines

There's a lot of people contributing stuff on their various websites. I can see a compilation of the latest ideas and stuff coming together for this.Brian wrote:maybe get peoples blogs from their websites. and maybe one page rockets and model rockets in general.
