MythBusters Launch a Woman

Post by Billkuhl53 »

I am watching Myth Busters and they are going to launch Carrie with 15 2-liter bottles. They just tried launching a dummy, but the harness broke from the dummy.

Hello, Bill!

That's a repeat of Mythbusters Episode 42 entitled "Steel Toe Amputation / Bottle Rocket Blastoff".

This is the episode in which they asked for our assistance and they featured one of our previous World Record launches. We had a lot of fun working with them on the episode. Ironically, the post production took so long we had already surpassed the record in the show by the time the episode aired.

That episode was the best thing we ever did! Literally hundreds of people have told us that our appearance on that show was what got them interested in Water Rockets. It's great for us to hear how we've made such an impact on on the community like this! Over the years some of our Water Rocket inductees have even gone on to make their own impact on the sport, like Air Command for example. Seeing so many people which our Mythbusters appearance inspired to join the community and really contribute so much is beyond our wildest dreams, and makes us very proud. Attracting so many people has been a bigger accomplishment than actually setting the record for us.

That's why we encourage everyone the spread the word about water rockets, and appreciate the efforts of yourself, and everyone else who makes educational or entertaining videos and websites, etc. We also appreciate every person who contrinutes to the flow of knowledge on the forum. David and Lisa also get huge props for putting up this great forum were we can all get together and share our experiences.

Keep it up everyone!

Interesting, they decided it wasn't safe to try to launch a human. Any exposure to the water rocket technology on national television has to be a good thing.

There have been some other shows done where humans have been launched. One Japanese show comes to mind where they had a platform on top of 100 bottles that launched simultaneously and lifted a man in a char about 10 feet in the air. The rig was on guide rails so it couldn't flip over or harm the human. It did show that you need an awful lot of bottles to lift a person.

Don't forget Rick,

He spent countless hours updating and testing the new forum software to make this the best place for everyone to discuss water rockets.

The girls name on the show is Kari Byron. She just had a baby girl last year. They have a new girl on replacing Kari this season. I hope Kari comes back.
