You should consider building one of our LaunchPad Altimeters for your rocket. You can make it yourself for less than the price of commercially sold altimeters, and it has the advantage that it will directly control a servo motor that you can use for the parachute deploy. It will work with all of the various servo deploy mechanisms like the trap door side deploy scheme that's been around for ages, or, you can use it with the recently devised Radial Deploy system, if you want the latest and most reliable design!
