RC Water Rocket Car

Post by bandsons »

This is our 2nd test. Normal drive and steering do work on the car but during this test the car was off. Watch in HD.

Our test before this one almost made it to the fence but I think that was because we had more water... and the ground is so bumpy.

Here we are using a new version of "the valve" made with carbon fiber...

It has been much harder than I thought to start learning Arduino and Xbees... so we wanted to apply what we have so far to this RC car. We hope to make it better next week.

Here is another Video of the car firing while in motion:

That is pretty cool!!! Nice work!

Have you considered making a compressed air powered car that feeds the compressed air into one of those micro compressed air piston engines? That would be cool to see with R/C control!

Thanks! I never thought about that but it sounds fun. We really only spent like 10 minutes strapping on the water rocket stuff to that old RC car.

I've just received a pressure transducer and we are going to hook up to the Arduino so we can see what is going on in the tanks. I think we will learn more by having close to real time readings of the pressure.
