I know that it´s usual to see sites of water-rocket-cars.

So I was wondering in maybe making a competition class for it.
It could compete in speed since it´s hard to find a flat zone lenght enough to test it in a lenght competition.

That's an interesting idea. Are you talking about cars that people would ride in or do you mean small model cars? There would need to be a lot of rules created for this. Are there any people doing a contest like this already? How is it usually measured?

I am talking about small models, since the real ones are dangerous.
They could be sticked to the ground if inserted inverted wings like the F1 cars.

Anyway one day someone is going to seat in a skate with 2 rockets at each side.
This is the only viable model of riding one.

To make the wheels for a bottle it would be better to use wheels from Lego.

First it would be necessary to make a chasis in Lego.
Maybe the pieces could be glued to make it stiffer.
After that the rocket would be attached to the chasis.

Then wings like the F1 cars would be glued.

Some indications about making a water-car:

1. Fins will not help much for initial stability,
since the speed of the car is still low during this phase.
2. Better is a launch tube or a similar type of initial guidance.
3. Two slats, one on each side of the car during say the first 2-3 meters.
4. Mount the bottle slightly upward on the chassis to increase surface friction during the period of highest acceleration.

I remember having a water rocket powered car when I was a kid. I wish I remember what they were called. It was one of the coolest toys I ever got. I remember they worked well in our basement because the floor was concrete but the asphalt roads were too rough and it would not roll far. I think we eventually figured out that more pressure was the way to go farther and we would up ruining the thing by pumping it too much.

This is a computarized make-off of the new world record of terrain speed in a car.

The big one with the carriage wheels looks like it would have really done well. I think if it didn't hit the dirt it would have gone into the parling lot and smacked into the white car!

I think it would be cool to make a 200psi FTC water-car with the front wheels controled by a system taken from a telecommanded toy car.

One thing about the wheels, if they aren´t from rubber it can be glued a layer of a bike tire or air chamber from a bike wheel, who knows maybe even foam.

The FTC would need to be vertical or diagonal so the water would be more effective.

A horizontal tube should be attached in the bottom of the FTC to direct the air more effectively.

A field to fire this cars would be in great in a stadium for runs like 200 meters or something.

If fired in dirt maybe the wheels should be a thin circle of metal like a blade, less drag.

if the rocket's horizontal you'd have a short air pulse until gravity pushes the water to the nozzle.
i don't really feel like making a water rocket car, i want to build a Surface Effect Vehicle. would they be aloud. (there a ground relient vehicle)
