Side Hatch Parachute

Post by Billkuhl53 »

After trying to make a tomy timer plunger system work with only spotty success, I just tried a side hatch system which looks promising. The first launch did not open but I think the timer was set for too long. I liked how clean the plunger system was, but I got the idea that at times there was just too much pressure pushing the nose back on. The side hatch has the rubber band pulling on the timer also which is a plus because there is not a lot of torque.

The next couple of launches the parachute came out, but it was pretty close to the ground. On the last launch the parachute did not unfold completely but I have made changes to help that problem.

I have noticed other people using the side deployment, so I thought there must be good reasons. Welcome any comments.
