Since you said you don't want to have any elecrical parts on your rocket because you may be endangering them, I have a mechanism I use and it never fails. If you heard of of a tomy timer people use it to wind up a rubber band that wraps around the parachute door and when it releases the rubber band it unwinds around the door and the parachute comes out. Heres the final instalment of my Acceleration Deployed Timer Recovery System. I've kept to the modular design and have made it much stronger by building it out of wood and with my Hot Melt Glue molded nosecone also making it front heavy, it's already survived one crash (the parachute didnt open). It also flies much better with larger and stronger fins but I'm yet to sew a stronger parachute.

Do you mean you can't find it, or you flew it and it was destroyed?

Just build one. It's really simple. Just about anyone can do it these days.
