MD 80 Clone Ordered!!!

I finally ordered 2-MD80 cameras yesterday, along with 2-micro SD cards, from Ebay. The cameras should arrive around the end of the month. The cards are probably going to arrive next week. Too bad all the MD80's come from Hong Kong :( :( :( :(

http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.vi ... 0865845102 they seem to be shipping from the U.S. also what is the weight on these cameras and are you stripping the casings off and just permanently attaching the unit or using it as a whole...also why this unit and not the ones you see people using that looks like a key chain

That one looks the way it does because it is meant to fool people into thinking it is a camera sold under the name "MD-80" which looks almost the same as this one. The keychain cameras are meant to look like a key fob for a car so they can be used as a spy camera to covertly record stuff without looking like you are holding a camera.

Snap!!!! I didn't even see that one!!!! Excuse me while I bonk myself on the head!!! Anyway, I am going to mount it like it is. It is the size of a thumb according to the info in the listing, it is less than 1/2 an ounce. Here is the listing I purchased it from:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mini-DV-DVR-Spo ... 2ebe4fa5b6

I chose the MD80 because it is way cheaper than the key chain cameras. I can't wait till they arrive.

The keychain cameras have been updated a few times and are capable of HD720P video. The MD80 clones were never updated, so they do 640x480 resolution. That's why they cost so much less. An advantage of the MD80 is that the lens is on the face and not on the end, so it will fit in an FTC rocket and still look out the side. The Keychain camera must be modified so that it will look out of an FTC.

Re: MD 80 Clone Ordered!!!

Right now, I can't afford a better quality camera. If I had the money for a more expensive camera, I would put it toward a scuba tank!!! But I don't. Personally I am going to be satisfied with the 720x480 video. Another reason why I liked the MD80 is because it is side facing. I though that would be easier to install in the rocket. Anyway, still waiting for a tracking number, so I don't expect that the 7 - 10 days that the listing says is going to happen.

Sadly, the MD80 clone fakes 720x480 by taking 640x480 video and stretching it. If you look carefully you will see circles are elliptical in shape in the video shot with that camera. Still, the price is unbeatable.
