A water rocket is a type of model rocket using water as its reaction mass. The pressure vessel (the engine of the rocket) is constructed from thin plastic or other non metallic materials (usually a used plastic soft drink bottle) weighing 1,500 grams or less. The water is forced out by compressed air. It is an example of Newton's third law of motion.

Hi guys. Planning my spring activities.
Will the Estes® Altimeter be legal for this class?

For the unreinforced bottle competition, you only need to record the peak altitude using a commercial altimeter so the one from Estes would qualify (would have helped if you had posted a model number or link to the specific one you were planning on using).

The rules state the following for the unreinforced bottle competition:

Rocket must carry onboard a mass produced altimeter to document the maximum altitude of the flight.

Hope that helps and good luck! PH:
