A water rocket is a type of model rocket using water as its reaction mass. The pressure vessel (the engine of the rocket) is constructed from thin plastic or other non metallic materials (usually a used plastic soft drink bottle) weighing 1,500 grams or less. The water is forced out by compressed air. It is an example of Newton's third law of motion.

Altimeters

Post by Drag_Racer408a » Sat Feb 24, 2007 10:23 pm

I have a standard PerfectFlite Alt 15K/WD altimeter and was just wondering if anyone had a good idea of how i could install it in a T12 FTC tube.

Any comments or thoughts are highly welcomed!

You will probably want to make a bulkhead that runs down the center of the tube and secure the altimeter to the bulkhead using small screws or tie-wraps. If the altimeter is not secure, you can damage it because it will flop around inside the tube. Also, if the altimeter is loose, it can give erroneous readings or spikes in the data when it bumps around.

Don't forget to drill the appropriate size hole in the tube to allow the air-pressure to reach the altimeter from the outside.

You will love the readings you get from the altimeter, it will help fine tune your rockets.

We're going to go with the cheapest ones we can find. Skipping on quality just to get up there first! If it crashes, it crashes and we won't be too sad.

I'm already having fun right now.

I get too nervous when I launch. I think sometimes I am going to have a heart attack when the rocket doesn't deploy right away!!!
