My Timer and deployment system

Post by quique uy »

this is the timer and deployment system.
Although I have not tested in flight by failures in other parts of the rocket

Wow, that seems to eject the nosecone with quite a lot of force! Any details on how it works?

The system is based on a mechanism for moving toy from Mc D. .. which releases a lever by a piston that is made using a syringe with a spring inside, which is what gives you that strength.

In the following video looks closely, is out of focus but something looks.
I'll do retakes of the final system and climb

Sorry,
I learned recently that this mechanism is called Tommy Timer

Wow, that really pushes the nose off with some force, I like it!!!

Congratulations on the fine design. It really ejects the nosecone with extreme force. That looks very powerful. I would suggest that much force is strong enough to pull a launch release so you could create a Tomy Timer based stager device from this idea.

From the close-up view, it looks like the timer pushes a lever that releases the spring. Is the lever strong enough so that it would not move by itself under launch forces?

Spaceman:

I not tested in a launch
But considering your comment I made some changes to prevent activation at launch
when I can upload photos

Cool! Let me know how your tests perform! Good luck!

That's a nice design you have there. It appears like it would be strong enough to force the nosecone off even if the rocket had flown a ballistic course and never slowed down at apogee. The speed of the rocket in motion tends to pin the nosecone to the top of the rocket and you really need a good amount of force to kick it off.

Ok ... This is the final system.
Has not been released yet, I am in hopes of having time. :(
I will try it with nozzle 22mm and 10mm.
The timer can be set between 3 and 6 seconds, more than that, no.
To activate it, the clip goes with a rope tied to the launch base

That mechanism is a thing of beauty in operation. How long did it take you to build?

Tim Chen

I hope it works when it have to do it.
the manufacturing time is relative, I sometimes spend time on it.

I often have the design in my mind for a long time but do it is quickly

which takes me longer is to find and decide which piece to use. All I have i´ve taken it from scrapping junk, or "chatarreo "as we say here,

Sometimes I build the piece with plastic parts, molded with heat, knives, files and drill

What matters is TO BE CREATIVE

My problem is that I don't have time or money to do everything I want to do. I have so many ideas and I never have the time to test them out. Sometimes I get new ideas so fast I lost interest in older ones and so I have too many projects I don't finish laying around.

about money, always a problem. always missing :(
About time. somehow we get
what you say of the brainstorm is very true and sometimes you leave things half done
For example:
is complicated to put a camera on board. for the Altitude Challenge for the costs of this.
same with the altimeter
although it is closest to my purchase

but that's not important
We arrive at the 5000m
if I do not have faith   JAJAJA

si yo no me tengo fe   JAJAJA
