Re: Johnny Jetpack
That was amusing. I sthere any more information about this? I am curious to know if the dummy they fly is as heavy as a real human. If the dummy is realistic in mass then we have some proof that the water rocket motor can really lift off a human being like they tried to prove on the muthbusters show.rockets-in-brighton wrote:

The dummy is certainly not human-weight, but it is an impressive sight anyway.

I once made the calculation about the force necessary to lift an human weight, it seemed that you needed 5 US-water-rockets to rise 2 meters !!!

You mean the record setting rocket would lift an average man less than half a meter into the air? That's pretty weak!RaZias wrote:I once made the calculation about the force necessary to lift an human weight, it seemed that you needed 5 US-water-rockets to rise 2 meters !!!

That's exactly why I couldn't fathom what the jet plane guy was smoking. His numbers just didn't add up.Spaceman Spiff wrote:You mean the record setting rocket would lift an average man less than half a meter into the air? Has anyone seen the clip of the TV show from Asia (I do not know what country) where someone showed a water rocket powered chair that lifted a man? They gave the exact maths to show how it worked.rockets-in-brighton wrote:That's exactly why I couldn't fathom what the jet plane guy was smoking.
