The Texas Express

Here's some videos from our newest rocket that we built the 30mm (widemouth) launcher for.

The pressure vessel is a 1 liter widemouth bottle with a 30mm nozzle.

The camera for these launches is a SpyGear Panosphere.

The recovery system is the self ejecting water ballast with a non-ballistic return. (It falls sideways after the ballast water is ejected)

Our flights were hitting about 250ft

It is easy to get a one liter rocket to go 250'

How much pressure was that. Overall it looked awesome. Good recovery too!

Why was the camera tiling so much? It kept going back and forth and pointing in all directions.

I think that is the most flattering thing anyone has ever said to me. Thanks!

That 252ft altimeter graph that I posted earlier was this rocket but without the camera on board. This flight had both altimeter and camera but I didn't secure the altimeter very well so it didn't record the flight. The camera is very lightweight so I don't expect much impact there.

100psi. Thanks!

That movement is actually post flight. The camera records a 360degree circle video. The software converts it to a normal video window that you can manipulate.

That looks more a 2 liter bottle to me.

Did you read my previous comment carefully? Read it again.

I could be wrong but it sounds like the kid at the end who said, "awesome, lets do it again" was from Texas because of his southern accent.

Yep when he was younger he sounded exactly like you'd expect Tom Sawyer to sound like.

That was his very first observation of a water rocket launch.

I did. And that a fair question considering I didn't post a picture with its label on.

So I have this instead for you...

Change your mind? I agree, it was easy!

I ran a bunch of sims, looks like I could possibly hit 300 if I try harder.
