Nice work! You had no crashes at all? That's great! Whoever was operating the camera did really well too!

Nice work christian, nice straight launches too. Love that field ... is that nearby to your place or did you drive out and find the location ? Wish I had a place like that close by :)

Do you know how much your wrocket weighs ? Also can you tell me the diameter of the chute you use if possible.

Keep up the good work, look forward to seeing your next launch

Yeah, no crashes at all! I tested the new chute section on a smaller rocket first. It worked just great!
The Cameraman: That's myself, so thanks for the compliment! Have a look at these tips:Air command rockets They're really good!

Hi
The field is just a couple of minutes away! That's really great, I still take the car, because there's so much stuff to bring to the launches.
The rocket weighs 425 grams. The diameter of the chute is around 80-90 cm. I just make it out of a garbage bag.

Uhm, my chute is actually only 58 centimeters in diameter, sorry.
I also made a two centimeter hole in the middle. This makes decent a lot more stable.

Thanks for posting those number Christian, your lucky to have a great launch location so close by. Just for reference My rocket current is 260g and parachute is 60cm diameter with a 5cm hole in it.

I wish we had access to a bigger launch area like yours. We have trees in our park and it's not all that big. I may take a trip to a nearby farm and see if the people there would let me use their pasture to launch.

Todd, That's a light rocket you've got there. What's its capacity?
Maybe I added a bit too much noseweight. I will have to try this out. But it's better to have a stable rocket, wich weighs a bit more than an unstable one!

Hi Christian,

I was just enjoying watching your video again :)

My current wrocket H2 is 2.5L (2 x 1.25L bottles). I used some scales to measure the weights of every part. The list is here is you want to look http://wrocket.hampson.net.au/?p=328

I also measure its weight when its fully assembled and ready to fly.

Im very happy with the stability of H2 it flys very straight. Just when the chute deploys it tends to get carried a long way. Im working on the dual deploy at the moment, when I have that right I will add the third and forth bottle to go for additional height. Adding a bottle and robinson coupling adds 51g per bottle. Although the bigger dual deploy nosecone will come in a bit heavier than the single deploy one.

I will add the details to my website once Im done

Nice video, and nice rocket Todd!

We suggest you look at using crossform parachutes, if you are concerned with the drift. Crossform parachutes are much less prone to drift. This is the way we are able to direct our landings with precision.
