Re: Children dragster ideas for summer fun
The above examples of water rocket cars are pretty unstable, I have seen videos of them. The pink car gets airbourne at one stage from memory.
If you want to try something like this, start with a 1 bottle water rocket car and make sure the base is relatively solid and that you start with low pressures then work up ie: 70psi and up. Aim for stability and keeping them on the ground.
Here is an example of what I mean

Also I wouldnt let children play with these unsupervised. I would think anyone younger than 14 or so needs to be supervised. Older kids need to understand how to operate them safely.

Thanks for yout input.
I like your wooden dragster.
Some questions :
Will it work/move your dragster with a 1,5l without reducing the nozzle ?
I mean just for fun, no speed/distance record goal.
I would like to make it simple and safer.
The idea is to use a cork + bike valve with a 1,5l. bottle.
COMPETITION
* two dragsters
* to children pumping at the same time
* see which car goes further
Thanks again for your ideas/suggestions

You should think seriously about building a launcher with cable ties. Look up "cable tie launcher" and build a horizontal version for your car. The cork popping launcher is a little unpredictable and with kids around you want predictability. Cable tie launchers are incredibly easy to make and the effort is maybe 50% more work than a cork launcher. You won't have a whipping hose with a cork on it shooting back at every launch.

If you want a easy one you can make a gardena system.

Mirleta
Ive been offline while my PC was getting fixed so sorry for the slow response.
Yes a single 1.5L bottle will definatley move a water dragster
Here is a video of our first water rocket car with a single 1.5L bottle and a 9mm gardena nozzle

A cork and a bike valve will work, but USWaterrockets is right, a cable tie launcher or a gardena style (if you can get them there) is much more predictable. We are using a gardena style nozzle and launcher in the video above. You could use two like this to have drag races

Re: Children dragster ideas for summer fun
Hi,
Thanks for asking the ideas for children summer fun.
I want to share a game with all of you....
This game is played by all the family member in summer or some events. When all the family members and even different families gather on one place to spend the summer. It is home made game which you can play with your kids and children within your home...You can search for that type of games and make fun with family.. I like that treasure hunt game very much. Which is easy to make at home and played by all the members and fun...

I think you should try a balloon dragster that you can create by using some piece of cardboards, some straight pins, flexible straw and a balloon. All you need to do is make a box by these cardboards, than attach the straw with box by using pins, and finally bind the balloon with the box.

I think this idea will mesh well with a post Halloween pumpkin derby.

I was into 1/24 Scale slot car racing to include Drag racing. I was the owner of a business from 2006 to just the start of this month, I sold out.
Anyway, if you want a good timing system, take a look at the Trackmate outdoor drag timing system, it will cost you but there is none any better. I had the indoor 1/24 slot car system. Here is a link:http://www.trackmateracing.com/shop/cat ... ategory=13

Re: Children dragster ideas for summer fun
Well, I would after I win the lottery... Seriously though, that's something a club or league would buy. And honestly, in the world of RC and other forms of racing, many people wouldn't bat an eye to drop that much on something.DogLover wrote:WHOA!! That thing is super expensive!!!
