Re: A question to FTC builders

There's been a whole bunch of people who had the same idea to use a PVC pipe for a rocket and none of them ever seemed to report back their altitude readings. PVC is really heavy compared to other composites. It is very rugged, and some people just fire PVC rockets downrange in a safe area and crash them and they survive for another launch.

This is pretty dangerous, so don't try this at home!

Only do this if you know there's no way anyone or anything will get hit.

Re: A question to FTC builders

Well, being how dangerous I personally am, all I can guarantee is no one else would get hurt, nor anyone else's property damaged if I tried this out

I have a LOT of open space to try this kind of thing at, and have a few 'blast sites' in mind if I ever did get the courage to make an EXTREMELY high pressure rocket, since PVC seems mostly suitable to that due to the weight and it's strength. But, never know, if I can find some thin walled pvc or find a good reliable way to "shrink" it via cutting/shaving on a lathe, then it could be a very nice semi-rigid alternative to FTC for me. I've had a lot more experience working with PVC and PET in general than polycarbonate. In honesty, all I know about polycarbonate is it makes some beautiful shatter-proof container glass for my snake the likes of which plexiglass could never compete with

Re: A question to FTC builders

It'd be a waste of money to dump a ton of cash into a pvc rocket and high pressure launcher and not go very high.

If you are set on PVC, you might as well jump to KNO3.
