New Pump

Post by Blenderite »

I just got a new bike pump from a local bike shop. This is the one I got: http://www.artscyclery.com/descpage-8462.html and intend to test it tomorrow. I already did a bench test, which I got up to 120 psi. I am quite pleased, personally. With my other pumps I only got it 80 psi before they blew.

Let us know if the pump requires a lot of effort to pump. We're looking for a good pump to recommend to scouts which are in the 8-10yr old range. It would be great to find one that did not require a huge person to operate.

The new pump is wonderful! I got it up to 125 psi with a bit of effort. This specific pump is made special so that it is easier to pump at higher pressures. I think it might have been harder for us because there were only 3 of us pumping, and I was the rocket retriever so I had just ran after the rocket. That probably made it a little harder for me. I think it would be a good pump for a scout between 8-10 as long as there was more than two or three to help pump. One thing is that it doesn't have a highly impressive volume, but it works. We are highly considering getting a cheap tire pump just to fill the volume and then use the floor pump to increase the pressure. Overall, this is a spectacular pump!!! I would recommend this one.

If someone is interested, I am using the SKS Rennkompressor bicycle pump, it goes up to 230 PSI (16 bar). I'm not sure if it is available in the USA but it is in Europe.
