rails

Post by rumnass »

safety first I would not attempt this on a live or in use track

I have a small narrow gauged railway in my town that is soon to shut down for winter (apart from maintenance). so after asking for permission first to avoid trespassing.

Would it be against the rules to use a rail, track or wire line for a record attempt? Making sure that the "8.Rocket Dragster must be free wheeling (no forms of power to turn the wheels other then the air pressure in the pressure vessel."

This may be a dumb question due to the amount of friction this method will be against

thanks kev

This sounds like a great idea! We won't know until someone gives it a try whether the rails help or hurt the rocket. It will be interesting to find out. By the way, Bugwubber, that jet train photo is cool. Where do you come up with this stuff?

I'm always on the lookout for interesting trains to show my son since he is a huge train aficionado. I often try to find a train whistle or steam locomotive soundtrack to wake him up in the morning. It's very effective!

The video description is fascinating too. They discuss how the project worked great but nothing ever became of it. Kind of a shame. They even got valuable high speed tail test data that was totally ignored.
