what competitions have you planned to do? you could do a highest flight, longest distance, most accurate and maybe even best looking rocket.

The competition normally will be held in conjunction with the science week for the school.
Two category will be competed, First one is Rocket target, i.e we put a target about 100 meters (a flag) and the rocket which is nearest to the target will be the winner. The student have to set the water level, pressure (max 60 psi) and the angle (also have to consider the wind condition) so that their rocket will hit the target or nearest to it. They will have two attemps for each rocket.

The other one is rocket parachute. The winner will be the longest time from launching till the rocket touch the ground (or stuck on a tree ect) or as long you can see the rocket (with pressure max of 60 psi) .They have to design their own parachute (the material, size ect) and deployment methods so that the rocket can shoot high, fast deploy and float longer in the air. They also will have two attemps for each rocket (if they don't lost @ damaged their rocket in the first attemp).

After the competition we normally will play with the rocket (increased the pressure - till now up to 90 psi, shoot the target rocket to the goal post)

Maybe for next year we anc include the best looking rocket 8) .

Any body know what is the max pressure (in psi) for normal water bottle (not reinforced) can withstand?

does the recovery system have to be a parachute recovery for the longest flight duration?

The students are free to use any methods of recovery system and in the briefing for the WR competition we did show some pictures
of various recovery system. But so far all of them used parachute, I guess this is the easiest and cheapest one.
