Almost
A pyro guy in the local rocket club had gotten his rocket stuck in a tree about 60ft up. Volunteered to help him get it down with this setup but alas the weather did not cooperate- it rained the day I was available.
Was all set to record onboard video and everything. Oh well. Part of it did come down with the rain but cardboard doesn't deal well with water.Bugwubber

You could have just cut the tree down. Would have been less stuff to get ready

Re: Almost
that could easily be modified into a very cool tool
what range can you get with a small line attached , not to safe rockets but to save swimmers with a stranded boat-

Although this is using 3000psi canisters. Can't imagine that puppy is cheap.
I'd imagine we could easily hit 100yds. I was launching at 60psi the last time I tried this.
Only forgot once to put the face shield down...

We were able to send a rocket with fishing line attached to it about 100 feet over a tree. We used the fishing line to pull a rope over the tree and then used the rope to shake the tree and dislodge a stuck water rocket.

I suppose a strong monofilament would be less of a drag on the rocket. Did you use a fishing reel to spool it off? I have some braided fishing line but it's black and didn't want to have to try and find that in the woods.U.S. Water Rockets1 wrote:bugwubber wrote:Oh you mean something like this?rumnass wrote:that could easily be modified into a very cool toolwhat range can you get with a small line attached , not to safe rockets but to save swimmers with a stranded boat
