Re: Voting - Kevin Colvill Class D record of 417 feet (127.1 meters)
This record is well-deserved. Based on my discussion in his record submission thread, it is clear that Kevin Colvill did a lot of background research and built a rocket with great attention to detail with respect to minimizing drag coefficient. Furthermore, his entry complies with my suggestion in another thread of requiring a calibrated pressure gauge to verify the that the launch pressure did not exceed 100 psi. Therefore, if that rule change is adopted, this record would still be valid.
I have to say that I felt a personal disappointment because I also had a rocket that beat the previous record and was getting it ready to document a submission of my own, but I believe if I had submitted mine, my record would have been very short lived based on the astounding performance of Kevin's rocket, beating the previous record by 40 meters. Well done, I say!
