Glue choice?

What is everyone using other than Loctite PL
two sources recommended it to bond 2 quart bottles together but my 1" overlap joint failed at 30 pounds
It was clean, sanded and a tight fit

I've never been able to join 2 bottles successfully. My failures don't involve the halves separating. Rather, after enough pressure, the seal springs a leak.

I'm thinking you need something sticky with something rubbery. Like Loctite or epoxy, with a bead of silicone sealer around the inside seam, which would improve the seal when compressed by internal pressure against the seam.
