6 way connector help

Post by qymekkam »

im going to try and explain this as best as i can. im building a water rocket
what has 4 air boosters each connected to a tube that links it with the rest of
the rocket.
the problem is that i cant find a cheap tube that can be drilled thru (using a
manual drill not an automatic since i dont have one). the best ive found is 98
dollars. i was thinking about making one myself using a modified splicing method
on a 2 liter bottle. can anyone give me any ideas on how to do this?

Hello! It is not apparent what kind of tube you are looking for? Is the tube to be used as the body of the boosters, or are you trying to find a tube to make an air manifold from that connects several pressure chambers? Perhaps you can post a drawing of the tube you are trying to find. $98 is way too expensive for a tube, for sure!

For context, see http://home.people.net.au/~aircommand/day56.htm... you might need to scale back your ambitions until you have more resources.

have you tried PVC, it's good for launchers but may be too brittle for a rocket (bad landings).

If I understand your question correctly, I think you could build your own 6-way connector from PVC plumbing parts. Get a couple of 4-way tees and connect them together with a short piece of PVC pipe and then you have a 6-way manifold.

You could make any number of connections you want with this kind of setup by adding more tees:

+ <--- 4-way PVC tee
| <--- Short PVC pipe
+ <--- 4-way PVC tee

Does that help?
