After Thunderrockets success at stabalising the rear of their water rocket car, we thought we would try a similar rear wing instead of fins on the back of our water rocket car.
This is a big change from the way we have tried to control the water rocket cars so far, we have typically used fins, like a vertical rocket. However the thrust steering on our current 3 bottle rocket car is causing some pretty big crashes due to we think the thrust steering the rocket car. So we are keen to see how this new downforce design goes.
We were not sure how much downforce we should have as too much will just be causing drag .. so we designed in a variable wing so we can tune the downforce to whats required.
There are some pics below of the wing attached to the car.
I have a detailed writeup of the construction for those interested on our website

We will get to try it out next weekend and will post some videos of how it goes .... thanks to thunderrockets for their water rocket videos and tests.

Re: New Adjustable Rear Wing for Water Rocket Car
thanks ...
Im looking forward to see what you guys come up with and how the water rocket car reacts to bigger thrust .... its great to see more water rocket cars on this forum.... the onboard camera shots are great too .... Im going to have to get some onboard videos as well
